4 STARS

 SYNOPSIS:

Haunted by memories of her past, Amethyst Lakes left her home to come to Edenton. She was ready to start a new life on her own after being stalked relentlessly.

Hayden Hunter is too busy being Sheriff to take interest in a woman.

That is until his officer drags Amethyst into his life. For the first time he wants to protect and claim.

There’s instant attraction between the two, but Amethyst isn’t ready for anyone since she found out her ex killed himself after she sent him away for good.

Preston has always protected Amethyst, and when he finds out something of legend and nightmares is coming for her, he’ll do everything he can to keep her safe.

Amethyst is either the catalyst to bring nightmares fully into this realm, or the one to end them. Can she find the power to stop the darkness, or will she wind up its prey?

Pretty little nymph, suspicious but sexy earth fae, cocky mage, and a nightmare of old

MY REVIEW:

Amethyst Lakes is still a nymph who has past baggage unlike no other that she is steadily trying to escape. Before you read this book read Shadows Fall (Others of Edenton, #1.5) by Brandy L. Rivers on the little nymph, which gives you more background on this character.

I don’t even know where to start. I absolutely loved this book!! Rivers has an uncanny way of weaver characters into your heart and she has done it yet again with Amethyst Lakes. This little nymph is sweet and selfless but boy does pack a mean “punch”!!  Amethyst is the newest resident of Edenton and her welcoming committee was less than stellar as upon arrival she finds herself cuffed and dragged into the Sheriff’s office. It is there that she is introduced to Sheriff Hayden a Earth Faerie who looks intimidating but for some reason ignites these feelings in her that she has sworn off for a while. Hayden is a little taken aback by the treatment of the newest resident of Edenton, who sits in his office with her head bowed, looking defeated, but why does he feel the need to protect and claim her and she has yet to look at him?

” She sighed, and took a deep breath to slow herself down. “I don’t need to be pulled over again, and it seems Sheriff Eyeball over there has decided to keep an eye on me.” Hayden hasn’t looked at a woman in centuries and this little nymph comes into his town and he can’t seem to keep his eyes off of her and thus she names him “Sheriff Eyeball”. Vowing not to have any “naked playtime” with anyone until she can deal with her most recent issues in which she fled from, Amethyst is fighting the feelings that she is beginning to have for Hayden, but everyone else can see the chemistry between the two.

As Amethyst’s past follows her to Edenton, she realizes that the bedtime stories her mother used to tell her are more of a reality for her family and she has to either deal with her insecurities of have the world end because of them.

OMG!!!! I think RIVERS was trying to send me on an emotional roller coaster in this book. She had my emotions going through a whirlwind and I was even close to tears in a certain part of the book. I really loved the way in which Amethyst has to come to terms with her past in order to move into the future. You can really see this little girl emerge into a woman, one that she has claimed to be all along but everyone would treat her like the little sister. You see a side of Hayden that all of Edenton thought was non-existent and then you really start to understand and sympathize with Preston (he has a soft spot).  I am all sorts of in love with this series and wanting to find Edenton myself. The story flowed wonderfully, as action peaked, death was near, lives needed to be saved and relationships blossomed. And ladies there are some hot “naked play” scenes in this book that don’t disappoint. What more could I have asked for, besides seeing more of what Hayden magical abilities are, learn more about Jamie and Clint, etc, etc, etc…………lol. I think these are characters Rivers will leave for other books, but I am really looking forward to the rest of the series as the plot continues to excite with unexpected twist and turns and more background information is given on the residents of Edenton. I really recommend this series as a must read, and I’m sure you will be as captivated by the characters as am I.

I need the next book soon Ms. Rivers……please???!!!

* I received an ARC from the author for an honest review *
